The ceremony that is a slideshow
A free demo that turns a group-chat JSON into roast awards, and a local run that stays a slideshow until a Magic Hour key is set.

The startup idea
Aaron Dutta posted Kudos AI on October 15. It uses Jev and Magic Hour to make a video of a group chat being roasted. Jev gives friends titles. The ceremony is the film. The post says it takes less than 30 seconds to upload an export and generate the video. The link is the GitHub repository defAaron/gc-wrapped. The readme calls it a free demo. Product docs live in the repo. A local run uses a slideshow ceremony unless Magic Hour credentials are set. The upload is a JSON file: a Kudos format, or a Telegram, Messenger, or Discord export that the adapters detect. The app validates size and structure, computes stats, and sends the subjective awards to Jev. The person picks gentle, medium, or spicy, and optional avatars. Magic Hour renders the video asynchronously. One person can win at most four awards. The license line says TBD. Local setup is Node 22, pnpm, Docker, Postgres 16, and Redis 7, plus a TypeSafe key and a Magic Hour key. Pricing in the readme is free for the demo. The readme does not say 30 seconds. This page did not upload a chat.
The opportunity is the film the group can drop back into the chat. A smaller product is the awards, named, before the video. The post describes a finished ceremony. The readme describes a demo that slides unless the video key is present, and a license that is not chosen yet.
Do not say the license is open source. It says TBD. Do not say every install produces a video.
The problem
The group chat is funny. Nobody wants to edit the awards video.
Who would pay for this?
- Primary
- A friend group that already has a long chat and will export it.
- Secondary
- A developer who will run the repo and has the two API keys.
- Early adopter
- One chat, one roast level, the awards before the film.
How could it make money?
Possible models. Nothing here is a claim about what Kudos charges.
- The readme says free for the demo.
- No other price.
- The Magic Hour render and the Jev call are the host's keys, not a plan on the page.
What would the MVP look like?
- A JSON upload.
- Gentle, medium, and spicy.
- At most four awards for one person.
- A slideshow when the video key is missing, written on the same page.
How to validate the idea
- Ask five groups to upload one real export and share the awards, not the film.
- If they only care once the video exists, the slideshow was not the product.
- Do not pick a license in the copy. The repo has not.
How to differentiate
- The source is a chat the group already had.
- The roast has a dial.
- The video is a second system, and the readme says so.
- Do not become a meme generator with no chat.
Why this could be interesting now
The post and the readme agree on Jev, Magic Hour, and a chat export. They do not agree on 30 seconds, and only the readme says the license is TBD. The opening is one chat and the titles, before the ceremony.
Original product launch
This launch is inspiration and evidence that someone shipped, not a partnership. The idea above is our reading of the broader opportunity. Kudos did not write it.

Product that inspired this idea
Aaron's post says he built Kudos AI. It uses Jev and Magic Hour to turn an exported group chat into a roast, with titles and a ceremony video, in less than 30 seconds. The link in the post is the GitHub repo. The readme calls it a free demo. A local run is a slideshow unless Magic Hour credentials are set. Upload is JSON only. Roast levels are gentle, medium, or spicy, and one person can win at most four awards. License: TBD. Postgres, Redis, a Jev key, and a Magic Hour key are the setup. The readme does not say 30 seconds. This page did not upload a chat.
