Difficulty is an editorial estimate of technical and operational complexity, not a score.

The startup idea
Zarif posted a self-hosted web app for a Roborock vacuum on October 21. The official app was not hackable enough. This one has schedules, a queue, and a live map, in the browser or as a PWA. Open source, MIT. The repository is zarifaziz/roborock-webapp. The readme says the film is fake mode: a simulated robot in a synthetic apartment, sped up, with no account and no robot, so it can run in about 30 seconds. A real sequence waits until the robot has left the dock, cleaned, and come home. A mid-job recharge does not count as done. Two-stage clean vacuums with carpet mode Rise, then mops with Avoid. Python 3.12. Commands were verified on a Qrevo L Pro. Other models may expect different parameters. The web app has no login of its own. Anyone who can reach the port can drive the robot. The readme says keep it on 127.0.0.1. The post does not say the video is a simulation. This page did not connect a vacuum.
The opportunity is the second clean that starts only when the first one is actually finished. A smaller product is one verified model, one sequence, and a label that the pretty map in the film is not a house. The missing login is the risk, not a feature to hide.
Do not say Roborock ships this. It is unofficial. Do not put the port on the open internet.
The problem
The official app starts one clean, and the carpet setting is global.
Who would pay for this?
- Primary
- An owner of a Qrevo L Pro who wants vacuum-then-mop without a global carpet setting.
- Secondary
- Someone who will run Python at home and keep the server on localhost.
- Early adopter
- Fake mode first, then one real sequence on a named model.
How could it make money?
Possible models. Nothing here is a claim about what roborock-webapp charges.
- No price. MIT.
- No account of its own.
- The post does not name a hosted plan.
What would the MVP look like?
- Fake mode, labeled as fake.
- One sequence that waits for the dock.
- The verified model named.
- The port kept on localhost.
How to validate the idea
- Ask five owners whether the second step starts only after the robot is home.
- If a recharge counted as done, the sequence was wrong.
- Do not promise a model the tests have not named.
How to differentiate
- Steps wait for a real return to the dock.
- Carpet mode can change between steps.
- The demo can run with no robot.
- Do not become the official app.
Original product launch
This launch is inspiration and evidence that someone shipped, not a partnership. The idea above is our reading of the broader opportunity. roborock-webapp did not write it.

Product that inspired this idea
Zarif's post says he built a self-hosted web app for a Roborock vacuum, because the official app was not hackable enough. Schedules, a queue, a live map. Browser or PWA. Open source, MIT. The readme says the recording is fake mode: a simulated robot in a synthetic apartment, sped up, with no account and no robot. A real run is Python 3.12. Commands were verified on a Qrevo L Pro. Other models may want different parameters. The web app has no login of its own. Anyone who can reach the port can drive the robot, so the readme says keep it on 127.0.0.1. The post does not say the film is a simulation, or that the port is the lock. This page did not start a clean.
