Turn screens you captured into a store set, in the sizes and languages the stores ask for, and make the agent ask before it spends a credit.

Difficulty is an editorial estimate of technical and operational complexity, not a score.
Startup idea analysis by Startup Ideas. Last reviewed Oct 7, 2026. How we read a launch.
The startup idea
Barrett's post says he is launching an app-store image generator at soggyhotdog.com, for mobile developers who need screenshots. The page says you upload the screenshots you already have, pick a look, approve each page, and take back iPhone, iPad, and Android at the sizes the stores ask for, in up to six languages. It says there are 29 looks. It says headlines are written only from what the app does and what you told it, with no invented ratings or awards. Free is three generations, no card. Monthly is $12 for 400 images. Yearly is $6 a month, billed at $72, with two weeks free, and the same 400 images a month. Credits refill and do not roll over. Subscribers can buy 400 more images for $6, and those do not expire. A change to one frame uses one credit. The page says an agent on Claude, Cursor, Codex, or another MCP client can make the set, signs in with the account instead of an API key, and asks before it spends. It also says uploads are not used for training. This page did not generate a set.
The opportunity is the listing after the screenshots exist, not a mock of an app you do not have. The developer already captured the screens. The weekend goes to sizes and languages. A smaller product is one app, one look, three free tries, and a yes before a credit moves. If the caption invents a rating, the page's own rule says the store can reject it.
Do not treat the recipe app in the film as a customer result. It is the sample. Do not round the prices. Free, $12, $72, and the $6 top-up are different things. Do not say every generation is free. The page says reading and checking can be free, and credits wait for a yes.
The problem
The app is done. The listing is still a design file, six sizes, and a weekend.
Who would pay for this?
- Primary
- A mobile developer who already has simulator screenshots and still owes the store a listing.
- Secondary
- A coding agent that can capture the screens, if it asks before spending.
- Early adopter
- One app, one language, three free generations.
How could it make money?
Possible models. Nothing here is a claim about what Soggy Hot Dog charges.
- Free is three generations. The page says no card.
- Monthly is $12 for 400 images. Yearly is $6 a month, billed at $72, after two free weeks, also 400 images a month.
- Those monthly credits do not roll over. A subscriber top-up is 400 images for $6, and those do not expire.
- The agent is supposed to ask before a credit is spent. Quote that. Do not promise it if the client skips the confirm.
What would the MVP look like?
- Screenshots the person already captured.
- One look.
- The store sizes for one device.
- Three free generations.
- A yes before a credit, including when an agent is the one clicking.
How to validate the idea
- Ask five developers with a build in TestFlight if they will spend the three free generations.
- If they still open a design file afterward, the export was not the job.
- Do not add a seventh language until one listing ships with captions they did not have to rewrite.
How to differentiate
- Their captures, not a drawn phone.
- The caption is not allowed to invent a rating. The page says so.
- The agent asks before it spends.
- Do not become a full design suite. The listing is the product.
Why this could be interesting now
The post puts a store export on the same day the page prints the prices and the confirm. The opening is one app, the screens they have, and a credit that waits.
Original product launch
This launch is inspiration and evidence that someone shipped, not a partnership. The idea above is our reading of the broader opportunity. Soggy Hot Dog did not write it.
