The startup idea
Micka, whose bio says he ships at Airbnb and builds this in public, posted that the typography cheat sheet is out and open source. The page is fluidfunctionalism.com/docs/typography. The thread says five styles, from page titles to captions. Three weights: regular, semibold, bold. Two text colors: foreground and muted. One font: Inter Variable 4.0. One paragraph style. The no list is uppercase, letter-spacing, eyebrows, a separate markdown style, and opacity on text. A later reply says two themes, two sizes, desktop and mobile on the same rules, and that it works in global CSS and prose. The docs page says the stack is React and Tailwind v4, in Radix and Base UI flavors, and the license line says MIT. This page did not install the package. It also did not find a public repo link on the page.
The opportunity is the refusal, not another font picker. Every extra style makes the system worse, which he already said. A smaller product is five styles, the no list, and a license a developer can read. If the repo is missing, open source is a claim until the link is there.
Do not invent a price. The page does not print one. Do not say you found the GitHub repo. This review did not. Do not treat Inter as their font. It is the family they chose.
The problem
Every new screen invents a size, a weight, and a faded gray, and the system gets harder to hold.

How could it make money?
Possible models. Nothing here is a claim about what Fluid Functionalism charges.
- No price on the page. Do not invent one.
- MIT is what the docs page says. A missing repo link is not the same as a license file you opened.
- A paid theme would be a different product. This post is the rules.
What would the MVP look like?
- Five styles.
- The weights and the two colors.
- The no list, in the same place as the rules.
- MIT, and a repo link if you are going to say open source.
How to validate the idea
- Apply it to one existing site and count the styles you delete.
- If a sixth style sneaks back in a week, the rule was not holding.
- Do not add a second font until one site stays inside the five.
How to differentiate
- The no list is the product.
- Markdown uses the same styles.
- Two themes, not a theme store.
- Do not become a component marketplace. The scale is the point.
Why this could be interesting now
The post publishes the rules the library already uses, and the page says MIT. The opening is five styles and the things you will not add.
Original product launch
This launch is inspiration and evidence that someone shipped, not a partnership. The idea above is our reading of the broader opportunity. Fluid Functionalism did not write it.
