The startup idea
Zac posted on October 27 that he asked Claude to clean a desktop, and it took the mouse. Twenty windows, each dragged into place by desk, an open-source CLI he built so Claude Code has eyes and hands on a Mac. The film is at 20 times speed. The repository is zacfink/screen-intelligence. The license is MIT. macOS only. Claude plans the work. A small decision model, Jev, from TypeSafe, does the looking and the clicking, so Claude is not reading a screenshot before every click. Jev runs in its own Python 3.12 venv and needs TYPESAFE_API_KEY. The readme says Images and Box are TypeSafe beta features, so desk asks for jev-1.14.0 by name. The launcher shows a notification and waits three seconds before taking the mouse after five idle minutes. Screen Recording and Accessibility go to whatever runs it. A find with confidence under 0.6 is refused. The setup is for his machine, and the note says to expect to adjust paths. The 20 times line is a caption on the drag demo, so the post matches that one. The post does not mention the API key, the beta, or the wait. This page did not drag a window.
The opportunity is a batch of clicks that does not spend a frontier model on every screenshot. A smaller product is one drag, the key named first, and the three-second wait. A mouse that moves with no key and no permission is not this readme.
Do not say Claude itself is looking. Jev is. Do not skip the idle wait.
The problem
Tidying twenty windows by hand is the slow part, and a screenshot before every click is slower.
Who would pay for this?
- Primary
- Someone who already runs Claude Code on a Mac and will hand it the mouse.
- Secondary
- A person who will keep a TypeSafe key and grant Accessibility.
- Early adopter
- One window moved, the wait visible, the key required.
How could it make money?
Possible models. Nothing here is a claim about what desk charges.
- No price for desk. MIT.
- Jev needs a TypeSafe key.
- The post does not price the key.
What would the MVP look like?
- desk on macOS.
- One drag after the three-second wait.
- The TypeSafe key named.
- A low-confidence click refused.
How to validate the idea
- Ask five people who looked at the screen, Claude or Jev.
- If they say Claude, the split was missing.
- Do not move the mouse before the wait.
How to differentiate
- Claude plans. Jev clicks.
- A weak find does not click.
- The mouse is the real one, after a pause.
- Do not become the model.
Original product launch
This launch is inspiration and evidence that someone shipped, not a partnership. The idea above is our reading of the broader opportunity. desk did not write it.
