Difficulty is an editorial estimate of technical and operational complexity, not a score.

The startup idea
Monica posted on October 29 that AI can build Revit models, and few people measure whether they are right. The tool is an open-source pyRevit extension that compares two MEP models by geometry: routing coverage, missing, extra, moved, and wrong-size parts, plus screenshots. The reply links github.com/kidge-io/revit-model-compare, and says reports and support go through support@kidge.io. The readme says the tool is free and MIT, built by KIDGE Ltd. in Taipei. You need Revit, developed on 2024, and pyRevit. Export is read-only CSV. Compare flags size, type, missing, and extra. Both models must share the same internal origin. The tool does not align coordinates. Tolerances are fixed for now: 5 mm, 50 mm, and 1 m, set in code. Issue Shots should run on copies. It adds 3D views named MC_ and does not edit elements. Beside the free tool, KIDGE sells comparison reports and adoption support. The post says open source and geometry. It does not say the origins have to match, or that a delivered report is a paid service. This page did not open a model.
The opportunity is a check a reviewer can run before trusting a generated model. A smaller product is two files, the origin rule on the first screen, and the paid report kept separate. A tool that slides the models into alignment for you is a different product.
Do not align coordinates and call it this tool. Do not hide the paid report.
The problem
An AI-built MEP model can look right and still miss a run.
Who would pay for this?
- Primary
- A Revit user who already has pyRevit and a reference MEP model.
- Secondary
- A team that will pay KIDGE for the PDF instead of running the buttons.
- Early adopter
- One pair of models, same origin, the tolerances printed.
How could it make money?
Possible models. Nothing here is a claim about what Revit Model Compare charges.
- The extension is MIT and free.
- Reports and adoption support are a separate offer from KIDGE.
- The post says open source.
What would the MVP look like?
- Export, then compare.
- A shared origin required.
- Fixed tolerances shown.
- Issue shots on a copy.
How to validate the idea
- Ask five people to compare two models with different origins.
- If the tool moved one, it is no longer the readme.
- Do not treat a paid PDF as the open-source button.
How to differentiate
- It measures geometry, not a rendered picture.
- It refuses to align the models.
- The report service is optional.
- Do not become Revit.
Original product launch
This launch is inspiration and evidence that someone shipped, not a partnership. The idea above is our reading of the broader opportunity. Revit Model Compare did not write it.

Product that inspired this idea
Monica's post says a pyRevit tool compares two MEP models by geometry: coverage, missing, extra, moved, and wrong-size parts, plus screenshots. Open source. The reply links kidge-io/revit-model-compare. The readme says MIT, free, built by KIDGE Ltd. You need Revit, developed on 2024, and pyRevit. Both models must share the same internal origin. The tool does not align coordinates. Tolerances are fixed for now, 5 mm, 50 mm, and 1 m. Issue Shots should run on copies. It adds views and does not edit elements. Paid work sits beside the tool: KIDGE will run the comparison and deliver a report, or help a team adopt it. The post does not say the models have to share an origin, or that the report is a separate service. This page did not open Revit.
