Difficulty is an editorial estimate of technical and operational complexity, not a score.
Startup idea analysis by Startup Ideas. Last reviewed Oct 6, 2026. How we read a launch.
The startup idea
Edge Stats is an open-source statistics engine from LuxAlgo. The post says it runs on your computer, can start from free crypto data, and shows how often a setup played out, with the sample size and a confidence interval beside the number. It also says a library of setups is included and that the engine is free.
The opportunity is not a new broker and not a signal service. It is the record. Traders remember the last time a pattern worked. A product that makes them look at the other times, on data they already trust, is narrower and more honest. Because the launch is open source, a company beside it would charge for data, for a private setup, or for a review of one desk’s rules, not for the count itself.
Do not promise returns. The launch does not, and neither should the idea.
The problem
A chart pattern feels true because the last time it worked is the one they remember.
Who would pay for this?
- Primary
- Technical traders who already have a setup and a machine they will keep their data on.
- Secondary
- A small desk that wants the same report on every rule.
- Early adopter
- Someone who journals trades by hand and already suspects the memory is flattering.
How could it make money?
Possible models. Nothing here is a claim about what LuxAlgo charges.
- The post says the engine is free and open source. A paid layer is data, a hosted run, or a private rule set.
- Do not charge for a prediction. Charge for the record, if anyone asks to keep it.
What would the MVP look like?
- One setup.
- A count of how often it played out.
- The sample size next to the number.
- A way to open the trades behind it.
How to validate the idea
- Run it on one setup you actually trade. See if the number changes what you do next week.
- If you ignore the number, the product is a chart toy.
- Ask two other traders to bring a setup. Watch whether they want the losing trades listed, or only the summary.
How to differentiate
- One market you know, not every asset.
- Local data, for people who will not upload a blotter.
- The losers are visible. A product that hides them is a marketing page.
- Leave order execution to the broker they already use.
Original product launch
This launch is inspiration and evidence that someone shipped, not a partnership. The idea above is our reading of the broader opportunity. LuxAlgo did not write it.
